Ivy Care Services Ltd
Frequently asked questions
Everything families usually want to know about visit lengths, medication support, our carers and how to get care started in South Kirkby and WF9.
Can I really book a 30-minute visit?+
Yes. Our shortest call is 30 minutes, which suits tasks such as a medication prompt, breakfast support, a welfare check or help getting ready for bed. Many people start with one short call a day and build up as needs change — we also provide 45-minute and hour-long visits, multiple calls a day and longer support packages.
What happens in a 30-minute visit?+
We agree the priorities with you in advance and write them into your care plan, so the carer arrives knowing exactly what matters most. Short visits are never rushed through a checklist — if your needs grow beyond what fits comfortably, we will tell you honestly and suggest a longer call.
How do you manage medication?+
Depending on your care plan we can prompt you to take your medication, assist you, or fully administer it. Everything is recorded on a Medication Administration Record at the time of the visit, including any refusals or missed doses.
Are your staff trained to give medication?+
Yes. All care staff complete safe handling of medication training with competency checks before they administer anything, and refresher training thereafter. Our registered managers audit medication records regularly and liaise with GPs and pharmacies where needed.
Are your carers DBS checked?+
Every member of our team holds an enhanced DBS check before they begin working with clients. We also take up references, verify right to work and complete a full induction — no one visits a client unaccompanied until their checks and training are complete.
Will I know who is coming to my home?+
Yes. We aim to send a small, consistent team of familiar carers who know your routine and preferences. Carers carry photo ID and wear our uniform, and we will always let you know if there is a change to your usual carer.
How do I make an enquiry and what happens next?+
Call Rosie on 07951 027548 or Kim on 07594 933397, or email info@ivycareservices.org. One of our registered managers will have a friendly, no-obligation chat about the support you or your loved one need.
Is there a charge for the initial assessment?+
No. We arrange a free home visit at a time that suits you and, where you wish, your family. We discuss needs, routines, preferences and any risks, then write a personalised care plan for you to approve before care begins.
How quickly can care start?+
In most cases we can begin within a few days of the assessment, and sooner in urgent situations such as a hospital discharge. It depends on staff availability in your area, and we will always be upfront about what we can commit to.
Can I change or cancel my visits?+
Yes. Care plans are reviewed regularly and can be adjusted at any time as needs change. Just let the office know as early as you can if you need to change, add or cancel a visit.
Still have a question?
We are always happy to talk things through, with no obligation at all.
